The earthquake occurred due to the rotational singularity (marked with a yellow ellipse) that is present in Taiwan, the Philippines, and Indonesia regions. Quantectum announced that this rotational singularity will increase tectonic traction in the region due to which the increased seismic hazard exposure is forecasted, on January 5, 2024, as shown here.
