A magnitude 5.6 earthquake occurred in the Mindanao region, Philippines on January 17, 2024, at 20:32:02 local time (12:32:02 UTC) and a depth of 51 km (31.6 mi). The exact location was 8.55° LAT, 126.50° LON. The epicenter was located 110 km (68 mi) ESE of Butuan (pop. 309,000) and 20 km (12 mi) NNE of Hinatuan (pop. 10,000).
