Quantectum Attended the Disaster Risk Reduction in the Digital Transformation Age

Quantectum’s three representatives attended the “Disaster Risk Reduction in the Digital Transformation Age: Leveraging Emerging Technologies” event, organized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) on the 13^th of October 2023.

This webinar explored the role of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and the metaverse in reducing the risks associated with disasters, spanning all stages of disaster management including monitoring, disaster preparedness, emergency response, and post-disaster recovery/relief. The discussions covered every facet of disaster management, including monitoring, disaster preparedness, emergency response, and post-disaster recovery and relief efforts.

Furthermore, the panel speakers thoroughly examined the pivotal roles these emerging technologies play in the entire disaster management lifecycle, starting from their invaluable contributions to early warning systems and ongoing monitoring of disaster-prone areas. Their utilization in disaster preparedness efforts, such as predictive modeling and resource allocation, was also a central point of focus.

Our representatives learned about how the above-mentioned emerging technologies could help in disaster risk reduction and what kind of role they could play in the earthquake forecasting field.
